2/20/13 How Am I Feeling Now???

It has now been a week today since my surgery.I must say that the hard part is now over and I'm on my road to recovery.I can tell now that I do not look like the old Kristie, but what Will the new Kristie look like? I went to the oral surgeon 2/19/13 for my 2nd follow up it was really quick appt. He said that everything is looking great no infections at all and that now I can wear my rubber bands at night only. So far the hardest thing about this jaw surgery is that I cant blow my nose.If I could only!! blow my nose I would be on cloud 9. It would be so much better but my Dr told me yesterday that he will let me know when its time for that,in the mean time just keep taking my meds and decongestant liquids to help thin it out smh ughhhhhhh I want to scream. As far as pain there is NO pain hard to believe that when you look at my DAY1 pics huh???It's more of aching feeling. I had grits yesterday for dinner if only I could taste them that would have been nice. Then some of it got stuck in my splint boy I cant wait till he takes this stupid thing out of my mouth!!!!!! I'm kinda missing real food. I have not blended anything at this point everything has been in a can or mashed potatoes. I cant suck out of a straw yet. My mouth will only open as wide as my knuckle. O and yea my face and arms have been feeling like ice for know reason at all kind of creepy. So I google it and it said that the anesthesia could still be working its way out nothing to worry about, because I was so scared when I say that I was freezing some nights I really was but when you touch me I felt warm. Well any who guess I will go lay back down and fix grits later lol.Bye for now bloggers

  1. Hi Kristie! You look much more alive now which is great! You had such a dazed and far away look on your other photos so its good to see you wide awake now.
I hope you are being spoilt with TLC by your family.
Thank you for your kind words yesterday - they meant a lot - at a time when I needed support. So thank you, especially when you are the one who needs support, it was very kind of you to think of me xx

  2. How frustrating to not be able to blow your nose. How long until you can start doing blowing it? Are you allowed to use a netty pot? Can't tell you what a relief it is to read that the pain isn't that bad, it's one of the things that has been worrying me as I get closer to surgery. BTW: my surgery is on 3/8 (only two more weeks to go).

    1. Do not sit and worry I did at first but trust me there is nothing to worry about. Think about how exciting its going to be to have a new bite and the look you have all ways wanted when taking pictures.

As far as blowing my nose my Dr. told me do not blow until he says its ok lol. So I go back next Tuesday I hope then he will take my splint out my mouth too!!Im not sure about the netty pot. I will tell ya at times my nose does run and I take advantage to try to clean out as much as I can. I am much better than last week though THANK GOD FOR THAT.

THE PAIN is not as bad as I thought when you look at my day 1 pictures it looks like OMG!!! BUT REALLY ITS NOT AND IM A BIG BABY WHEN IT COMES TO PAIN.I stop using pain meds once they put me in my room after surgery and only hit that button one time the dayI was released

WOW YOUR TIME IS SURE COMING TTYL
